A Tea Ramble Find: Mason’s Watteau Tea Set

Mason’s Watteau Tea Set

I love going on what I like to call, a “tea ramble”. The definition of a ramble means, a pleasurable walk in the country. For me, a tea ramble is enjoying a pleasurable search for all things related to tea and tea ware. Don’t even get me started on linens and napkins…that’s for another post.

A ramble can find me in the car stopping at antique stores, garage sales or thrift stores. Online, a tea ramble can take me to Facebook marketplace, eBay, Amazon or other websites. There are times when the hunt is pure serendipity and wonderful things are discovered in the least likely of places. Finding this tea set, was one of those wonderfully, unexpected times!

I found this lovely English, pink transferware, teaset for four and it’s in excellent condition! It’s made by Mason’s in the “Watteau” pattern. Researching it, I discovered it’s more popular in brown transferware and readily available. However, pink is a tad more rarer and harder to find.

Notice the lovely details in the teapot: pie crust design on the crown, embossing in the shape of a leaf for the finial on the lid, patterning on the handle and a sweet vine detail on the spout and teapot. The one drawback? It’s missing a solitary teacup. Now the hunt is on to find one to complete this lovely tea set…and then what?

The good news? I’ll be posting it for sale, as soon as I find a teacup.

Enjoying tea time pleasures with you!
